        Es hijo del matrimonio de Carlos Pedro Lacalle Núñez (1909-1971) y Hortensia de Herrera y Uriarte (1908-2007), y es nieto por vía materna del célebre político y caudillo nacionalista Luis Alberto de Herrera. Tiene además una hermana, Inés Celestina. Es también medio tío segundo del político Luis Alberto Heber, ya que Margarita Uriarte Olascoaga (1871-1943), contrajo matrimonio en primeras nupcias con Alberto Heber Jackson y en segundas con Luis Alberto de Herrera, lo que la convierte en abuela de Lacalle por un lado, y bisabuela de Heber por el otro.
